New Executive Council of BASIS sworn in
The newly elected Executive Council (2024-2026) of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) was formally anointed with the oath to achieve self-sufficiency and establish sovereignty of indigenous software in the information technology sector to implement Smart Bangladesh.
BASIS founder president A Towhid administered the oath to the newly elected executive council at the event held at the Grand Ballroom of Radisson Blu Hotel, Water Garden in the capital on Monday.
Prime Minister's Advisor on Private Industries and Investment Salman F Rahman was present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Minister of State for Commerce Ahsanul Islam (Titu) and President of FBCCI Md. Mahbubul Alam were present as special guests.
Apart from them, former president of BASIS Sarwar Alam, Rafiqul Islam Rawli, AKM Fahim Mashroor and outgoing executive council members, former executive committee members of BASIS, representatives of BASIS member companies, officials of various embassies and journalists were present in the event.
BASIS President Russell T Ahmed, Senior Vice President M Rashidul Hasan, Vice President (Administration) Syed Mohammad Kamal, Vice President (Finance) Iqbal Ahmed Fakhrul Hasan, newly elected BASIS Directors Md. Mostafizur Rahman Sohel, Didarul Alam, M. Asif Rahman, Dr. Muhammad Risalat Siddique, Mir Shah Rukh Islam, Biplab Ghosh Rahul and Syed Abdullah Zayed sworn in.
As Russell T Ahmed was re-elected as BASIS President, outgoing Senior Vice President Samira Zuberi Himika/Vice President (Administration) Abu Dawood Khan handed over the BASIS flag to him. Later, the outgoing Executive Council, BASIS Selection Board and Appeal Board were felicitated by the guests for their contribution.
In the event, BACC president Subrata Sarkar, BACCO president Wahid Sharif, ISPAB president Imdadul Haque, e-CAB president Shomi Kaiser and others greeted the new committee with flowers.
Samira Zuberi Himika, the outgoing senior vice-president of BASIS, delivered the welcome address on the occasion. In her speech, she said that tax exemption is a big challenge for this committee.
The combination of youth and experience among the 11 members made the new committee a victory for BASIS, President Russell T Ahmed said.
On May 8, 2024, the executive council election for the term 2024-2026 of BASIS was held.
